Hollilander Healthcare Recruitment are actively recruiting candidates for the role of Registered Senior Staff Nurse. This position is based in Co Limerick. In Irelands first purpose-built village for people living with Dementia.

Many people living with dementia despite being physically well, cannot live in their own homes. This organisation has three bungalows, each containing six private living spaces, a household kitchen and living room, each home is staffed in accordance with the needs of the people living in the home.
About You:
- Qualification – Nursing Degree
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with the older person service
- Fetac Level 6 Management and Leadership.
- Registered with NMBI
- Evidence of continuous professional development
Who is the right person for this role:
The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of caring for people living with dementia. To be considered for the role you must have a minimum of two year’s experience of caring for the older people.
You will be a person who understands and can deliver person centred care to people living with dementia. The candidate must have the ability to lead a team, motivate and develop their skill set. You must have the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently. Drive the community ethos through example.
Duties and responsibilities:
Clinical Practice
To ensure the delivery of the highest standards of nursing and social care which meet the individual needs of each resident by:
- Ensuring that our community policies and best clinical standards are always practiced. Working in all areas to ensure that standards are maintained. Also, to identify areas that may be of concern which can be discussed with the team and action plan put in place.
- Reviewing the people living in our community in all aspects of their care and clinical needs and then working through clinical practices and documentation to ensure appropriate management plans are in place.
- Troubleshoot any ongoing clinical issues and non-clinical issues and escalating to the team.
- Performs a comprehensive assessment of the people living with dementia and monitors ongoing assessment and modifications.
Medication Management
- Supervising medication administration and compliance by nursing staff.
- Ordering monthly stock and compiling monthly stock inventory.
- Reviewing medication audits with our Clinical Manager and improving standards.
- Liaising with GPs and pharmacy with regards to medication reviews and audit.
Staff Supervision & Training
- To fulfil the supervisory function of the role, the CNM needs to work alongside the nurse’s team and carers, and to be a visible presence. As part of the routine, it is important to monitor practice in relation to care practices.
- Training & Development/Performance Appraisal – Staff Nurses and Care Assistants in conjunction with Manager.
- Training, education, development and induction of nursing and care staff are fundamental to the role. The person works with the Manager in carrying out regular performance appraisal and helping staff to implement their personal development plan.
- The person will work with care assistants, ensuring that they have a professional, yet caring approach to the residents, and that they provide a high standard of person-centred care.
- Assessing training needs and implementing in house training based on person centred care.
Auditing
- Review recent admissions ensuring appropriate assessments, planning implantation and evaluation of care is documented.
- In addition to observing practice, the person also monitors standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and fosters an effective working relationship and good communication between all staff.
- Responsible for ensuring environmental and hand hygiene audits are carried out regularly and thoroughly, and that action plans are implemented and sustained.
- Responsible for carrying out of medication audits, health & safety audits, risk assessments and drawing up risk management plans – in conjunction with the Manager.
- Responsible for auditing Care Monitor, and for addressing any issues in relation to documentation – in association with the team.
Residents/Relatives – Person Centred
- Interact and support residents and families daily. The senior nurse is a key point of contact for all relatives and visitors and an ambassador for our community.
- Ensuring that complaints are swiftly dealt with at the point of contact.
- Assisting and liaising with the multidisciplinary team, relatives, and families.
Management
- The senior nurse is the supervisor of the staff nurses and carers and is responsible for ensuring that the care delivered is consistently of a high quality and that those delivering the direct care to residents are appropriately skilled, competent, caring, and conscientious.
- Ability to assist with all Managers responsibilities to effectively take on the role when covering for annual leave.
